THE A.R.E.A

Advocacy, Rights, Empowerment, Action

THE A.R.E.A is a culturally appropriate, holistic transitional/post release program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in prison or juvenile detention who are living with disability.

SRAC provides targeted workshops and information/feedback sessions focusing on safe decision making, individual rights, accessing the NDIS, and how to get support with problem resolution. We work with individuals/participants prior to their release to create an individualised plan that identifies and addresses their Advocacy needs; physical, financial, social & emotional - and engages a circle of formal and informal supports to mentor, share experiences, and build the person's ability to self-advocate and make positive life choices.
